Viola Malone, The Owner Of The Bag Lady Inc., Pushed All The Stereotypical Perceptions In A Traditionally Male-Dominant Field.
With her hard work and confidence, she started this company alone, going door to door with her son in one hand and sandbags in the other. The idea came to her from contractors in California using bags around the perimeters of graded sites using machines to fill bags with pea gravel. She later moved back to Washington with her husband and was determined to start her own company while remaining close to her child.
Viola began pre-filling and selling sandbags after seeing a general need for them. She would later purchase a truck to deliver filled sandbags during the day and sometimes at night with her little partner next to her.
Her drive to fill sandbags securely, quickly, and precisely led to her husband, Morris Malone, creating the world’s safest, simplest, and most productive sandbagging system for Viola, which is portable and ergonomically constructed.
The company grew as Viola explored other efficient methods to prefill sandbags for customers that required sandbags in bulk quantities. Growing up in Washington, she understood how inclement weather conditions could result in monumental structural devastation.
In 1996, She Incorporated Installing Erosion Control, Obtained Her Contractor’s License While Sewing Specialty Bags Herself, And Hired Full-Time Employees As Her Company Continued To Grow.
From Viola’s initial $700 investment, Viola has built The Bag Lady Inc. to be the leading manufacturer of sandbags, fencing, and erosion protection nationwide.

Sandbags Are An Effective Method To Prevent Water Damage As They Are Placed As A Barrier To Redirect And Absorb Water.
The Bag Lady Inc. manufactures and distributes empty and pre-filled sandbags to protect your homes and commercial buildings from water damage. Our sandbags are constructed with polypropylene or burlap and UV protection for up to 2000 hours, which will last for up to 3 months and include hem tops and strings that can easily be tied closed and secured tightly. The polypropylene sandbags are 850 deniers. We typically manufacture up to 12,000 sandbags per day. We either make the sandbags on-site or deliver by pallet or in bulk bags.

If you prefer to assemble your sandbags, our Flood Fighter is a funnel-shaped tool with openings on both ends that will keep your sandbag in an upright position once inserted. Once your bag is filled to the collar of the flood fighter, it is a perfect corp of engineers spec sandbag. This tool is lightweight and weighs about 2 pounds.
For Commercial Sandbag Filling Projects, Our Megga Bagger Machine Is An Automated Process That Can Take Anywhere From 1 To 10 Seconds At The User’s Discretion.
Our machine can be used with wet or dry sand, gravel, and small rocks – available with 1 or 2 hoppers to allow users to fill multiple sandbags simultaneously. Save time and preserve your energy. Our Megga Bagger Bulk Bag filler fills bulk bags from 500 lbs. to 5,000 lbs. at a rate of 40 bags per hour. This is a desirable option for large commercial projects for contractors who use them for river diversions to protect construction sites or flood protection. We have several different model sizes available to suit your needs for the bags and one size for the filling machine.
